EU subsidies to be lost
Projects developed with Phare support might not be realized, Világgazdaság has learned. Many tender dossiers for EU subsidies were completed with Phare support just too late, as the Regional Operative Programme had suspended most of its tenders before due to a greater than expected interest by applicants. Phare and the Hungarian government granted Euro 27 million for a project generation facility in 2003 but more than half of projects developed have not yet been passed in for approval, thus missing the deadline. Government officials disagree if these projects may be realised with EU support later.
