New transport ticket system in Budapest
Season tickets valid for services of BKV, MÁV and Volánbusz inside the city boundaries of Budapest will be introduced as of 1 September. These will cost 10 per cent more than BKV season tickets, but a holder of these tickets will be entitled to travel on any services of MÁV and Volánbusz as well. Passengers will benefit from the new system but it will result in a loss in revenue for the companies involved. The Ministry of Economics and Transport has allocated Ft 432 million this year to cover the loss. This sum will be enough for three months, in December the loss will have to be reimbursed from next year''s budget. (VG)
