Conference tourism booming

Conference tourism is booming in Budapest. Last year saw a 40 percent increase in the number of big international conferences organised in the Hungarian capital. This increase put Budapest to position No. 9 on the list of top conference venues, a tie with Stockholm, Sweden. Yearly revenue in the conference tourism business is estimated to euro 450 million in Hungary. The government now plans to build a new conference center for events with up to 5,000 participants in Budapest, investment costs are expected to be around Ft 30 billion.
