Despite the fact that MÁV Rt is to sell 795 freight wagons to obtain an income of Ft 250-300 million, they are still estimating a loss of Ft 75-80 billion in their 2005 business plan. The loss forecast comprises a Ft 10 billion loan borrowed for operational purposes, Ft 11 billion of taxes paid on the state subsidies, and Ft 5-7 billion as compensation for staff layoffs. The losses are compounded by the fact that MÁV calculates on an wage increase of 9.8%.
