Plan to cap prices of leased telephone lines
The National Communications Authority had made a draft decision to cap prices of leased telephone lines and sent it to the European Commission for consultation well before a recent recommendation was published by the Commission, Világgazdaság has learned. The Commission recommendation proposed to limit prices at this market for member states. The objective of the proposal is to reduce costs of those co-providers who lease fixed telephone lines from the main telephone suppliers and hereby enhance competition. The Hungarian price-capping regulation plan only regards Matáv as significant market player. It prescribes a lower price for the wholesale market of leased telephone lines than that applied at the retail market.
