Cheaper new cars

Despite a big rise in the registration tax from next January, new cars could become cheaper than now for the consumers. This price drop could be a result of lower VAT, to be applied from next January as well. For example, a new car with a 1.6 liter petrol-consuming engine and with a price tag of Ft 4,039,000 nowadays could cost only Ft 3 989 040 as of next January, due to the combined effects of higher registration tax and lower VAT. Therefore, car wholesalers and retailers do not fear a drop in demand as a result of tax changes.
