No competition, please, say public notaries
The Chamber of Public Notaries rejects the plan to enter competition in
their activities. Public notaries in Hungary do not perform business-like
tasks, e.g. they are not real estate agencies, unlike in many other
European countries, says vice chairman of the Chamber Ádám Tóth. He
thinks that public notaries act like public authorities without any
possibility to become entrepreneurs. However, the Ministry of Justice
would like to create competition in this legal service. Fixed prices of
public notaries'' services would be replaced by capped prices according
to the Ministry''s plans.
