A small increase in car sales
New car sales increased only by a negligable 1,400 pieces in the first six months of the year in Hungary. Dealers sold a total of 105,389 personal cars, lorries and trucks between January and June, so the rate of increase against the period one year earlier dropped to 1.4 percent. This is not surprising for Gábor Gablini, chairman of the National Association of Car Dealers, as high sales last year were partly a result of foreign currency based cheap loans available for car buyers. As many credit takers were not able to pay redemption after forint started to weaken dramatically, a great number of new cars were sold in the second hand market, worsening sales outlook for new car dealers.
