A hírügynökség szerint a Hamász sajtóirodája arról tájékoztatott, hogy a teherautó-konvoj gyógyszereket, gyógyászati segédeszközöket, és – korlátozott mennyiségben – élelmiszert szállít a háború sújtotta térségbe. A húszkamionnyi rakomány már napok óta várakozott az egyiptomi határon.

Joe Biden amerikai elnök már korábban közölte, hogy az Egyiptom és a Gázai övezet közötti határ 24–48 órán belül megnyílhat a segélyszállítmányok előtt a palesztin területen tartózkodók számára. Az amerikai elnök közölte, hogy a palesztinok lakta területen vezető autópályát helyre kell állítani ahhoz, hogy a szállítmányok célt érhessenek.
